Since I'm running my cables for my trunk mount battery I'd like to include a wire to run from the battery to an accessory fuse panel mounted to the firewall near the stock one or off in the pass. footwell area. I don't want to tax the original fusebox and actually want to lighten the load a little by taking the stereo off of it. I was looking at this painless 7 circuit one for ~$60:
Painless 70107
Total Circuit Qty7
3 Constant Hot 20A
4 Ignition Hot 40A total - (4X10A fuses?)
One 40 Amp SPST relay
One 50 Amp circuit breaker
How large a gauge wire should I run to the fusebox to feed it? 8ga., 10ga.
These are the accessories I plan to run off of it so far and the amperage of fuse they have. Of course I can't imagine a time where I'd have them all on at once but that's what you plan for it to handle right?
1. Polk amp 150w - (2) -30A fuses
2. Pioneer headunit 50w (1) -10A fuse
3. 2 seat heaters - (1) -10A fuse each (has high/low switch)
4. rear window defrost heater/blower from BMW (1) 7.5A fuse (has timer in switch)
5. USB charging port for .25-1A draw - (1) - 1-3A fuse in fusebox?
6. courtesy light for console - 3A fuse in fusebox?
7. OD lockout switch for AOD servo - (1) 20A? in fusebox - have to read my Silverfox instructions.
8. Electric lumbar switch in Foxbody seats - (1) 20A? each in fusebox - have to research what they take. This one won't be used much once I have them where I like them.
Any suggestions on how to run these to the 7 optional circuits? I guess the stereo/amp, usb charger and defrost would be my choices for constant hot?
Yeah I know it's a lot of 'conveniences' for a classic but I plan a lot of miles in this car and will use all of these I know. I am also installing relays for the headlights to take the load off the headlight switch too.
