Ammeter

Hey All,

I have finally got around to doing something about my ammeter and was wondering if my set up would affect its operation. The ammeter I have is fried and I will have to get a replacement, but before I do I want to know if its worth it.

I have a standard A code 289 running pertronix with a 12v coil.

Thanks all

Cheers

I don't believe my has worked for over a decade.
At least it has not moved in over 10 years.
I might see about a voltmeter instead.

A stock Ford ammeter with stock wiring should work, although I would put a 10 amp fuse on each line just in case.

If you have a single wire alternator, you can forget about a stock ammeter.

Hey Midlife,

Thanks for the reply, that is exactly the advice I was after, and yes I do have a single wire alternator.

So if I want to have some sort of voltmeter I would think I would have to go with a modern one.

Many believe that a voltmeter is a better instrument than an ammeter for monitoring the state of charging.
