Annoying Belt Squeal

My 69 has developed an annoying belt squeal. It's been getting worse for past year and a half. I've tried a few different belts with no improvement. Its worse when its cold and when its hot, it will squeal when the charging system is loaded by turning the lights on. Its a 351W with only the crank, water pump and alternator on the belt. The belt is tight. Is my alternator going?

I developed a squeal after i ditched the stock alternator for a 200 amp unit. the single v belt was just not working, no matter how tight I got it. Put a double pulley on the alternator and ran two v belts...problem solved instantly and I dont have to tighten the belts so damn tight, which is better for the alternator anyways.

Too tight will kill your alternator bearing. . .

Hold a bar of soap against the belt while the engine is running. Copper Coat spray tack works too (not for trailer queens).
