So I had my 2nd interview for a job I really want on the 14th. I made a follow up call on the 18th but had to leave a voicemail. I have heard nothing back. Do I follow up again? I can't believe that such a large company as this would leave the top three candidates hanging about their fate without as much as an email saying that they went with someone else. How patient should I be? I haven't stopped looking for work but closure on a desired position would be nice. Sigh.

If it were me, I'd send a nice hand written thank you note to whoever I interviewed with then hang loose for a bit.

When I was getting out of college and interviewing my step dad gave me some great advice in relation to patience during the interview process, "it's always more important to you than it is to them".

I did send thank you's to everyone I interviewed with. I agree that it is generally more important to me than them but they did tell me about the urgency in filling the position.

I would reach out and make another call yet today. Is has been a week since you last tried. Nothing negative will be viewed in your attempting to find out what is happening. Your call may be the nudge they need to get off the pot and make a decision.

Why sit through another weekend wondering if you don't have to?

Just wait a bit , but not too long , and move on to the next job intervieuw.
Don't expect to much.
The worst case then is , that you have the job !!!!
good luck and plant more seeds !!

call if you wish - a good company would welcome your assertiveness.

I agree, call again, absolutely nothing to loose at this point. (Years ago, a job came down to another candidate and me, I called once/week for a month (feds, a slow process) and finally was told I was given the job. They mentioned the other candidate never called back to check in.)

Depends on what kind of job you have applied.
Yes , in some cases they exspect you to do this to show your assertiveness.I agree.
On the other hand , when you show you are so desperite wanting that job , you can't negotiate regarding your salary.
My opinion. ( Put on your poker face )

I don't remember exactly what I said, but I'm sure it was insightful...

Bottom line

WTH, it even showed up in the preview...

Hope it's worth the wait...

...If this organization is anything like the Government, the hiring process is executed by numerous different offices; none of which have the same interest or sense of urgency as the gaining office... During many of my hiring actions for the Governement, a call from the perspective employee alerted me to a breakdown in the process that required my seeking out where things stopped. For what it's worth, I'd call (not write) the individual I interviewed with, and the HR office if they're not one in the same.

Yeah, my first interview was with the HR director and the Manager of the department I would work in. The second interview was with the manager again AND the Director who flew in from San Jose. I have called the manager back and left voice mails. I now leave it in their hands.
I do have one slight glimmer of hope left. When I left a vm the first time, the message was date specific for that Friday. When I followed up again with a new vm (yesterday), the message was for two days earlier. Soooo...maybe she has been ill and has not been able to make hiring decisions....so with the 3 day weekend and possible illness, it would be 7 actual working days since the 2nd interview rather than 10. :roll

Can you tell...I really want this job. I'm over analyzing....... :roul
