any suggestions?

I am thinking of getting new shorty headers and exhaust to replace my bone stock exhaust / manifolds.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thinking finding something like a flowmaster kit and then making a trip to the local exhaust shop might be the way to go?

Auto or Std trans? Power steering? These are important items that will influence your direction

Wouldn't hurt to get the local exhaust shop's input...

i just installed some new spintechs and like them quite a bit.
got a summit universal x-pipe kit and had a local shop fab them up.
just make sure you either a) have an interior with sound deadener - therefore you can run dumpouts or b) run the tailpipes to the rear.
these are loud....in a good way. 2.5" full exh...

If it were me.... I'd buy a pair of quality headers and then head straight to a good exhaust shop to have them custom bend the pipes. A 10' stick of 2.5" pipe runs approx. $25-30.

The JBA 1650 Shorties are some stout headers but are a very tight fit between the shock towers. Would not recommend them for a stock car.

I was catching up on reading Mustang Monthly last night and noticed that someone sells the Hi-po 289 manifolds.

Wondering if those wouldn't be a good selection for my car since some of the shorties have fit issues?

what about the tri-y headers. I know there is some companies reproducing them if you dont want togo the hi-po

I ran the tri-y's on my 66 A-code, 4-speed car and had fitment issues. Ended up having to smack the crap out of one side to get it to clear. Personally, I wouldn't recommend them. Is there any particular reason you want to go with a shorty header over a long tube header?

look in the exhaust sound bite forum, i posted a link to a quick youtube vid of my exhaust. wasn't able to post it here on the forum, so youtube was faster.
