Anyone Needing 8-tracks?

Sacbill

There's a local fundraiser coming up in late June here in Sacramento where the organization sells a lot of used CDs, Vinyl, etc. Last year I bought some great CDs for $4 each and got a lot of vinyl for $1 each. They had THOUSANDS of items.

While I was there, I was amazed to find HUNDREDS of original 8-tracks over in the corner. Very lightly picked over. I didn't check the price, but I'd imagine $1 each or less. I was thinking that if I knew someone who had a vintage working 8-track in their car, this would be a great source. Anyhow, if you do have a working 8-track in your Stang and you're interested, send me a PM.

And, crustycurmudgeon, I think you should plan on driving up to check it out. Some AMAZING vinyl shows up there. It will take you hours to go through the stuff. :scar

Skip has an 8 track in his 70, he'd be looking for all the John Denver you could find!

Those 8-track tapes don't age well. I found a new in the box player on ebay a few years back. I was so excited. Hooked it up, popped in my vintage C.W. McCall Wolf Creek Pass tape. As soon as it hit the eot/bot changer strip, the glue on it gave out and wrapped the tape around the capstan. Ruined the tape. :cry
Do enjoy my old vinyl. Nothing better than pop and hiss to bring back fond memories of stuff I shouldn't have been doing in the 70's in Boulder.

"Convoy" is a 1975 novelty song performed by C. W. McCall (pseudonym of Bill Fries).

That foil sensor strip is the weak point of an 8-track tape. You can replace that piece before it breaks and ruins the tape.

CPR I assume. I've gone there the last few years too and bought 10 albums/vinyl last year, IIRC.
