AOD starter DB Electric

Ok, time to order a starter for my 164 tooth AOD flywheel. I can't remember which model DB electric mini hi torque starter should be used with the AOD swap. If I use the online guide I get this model, is this correct? I used 93 5.0 Mustang as model but it didn't ask auto/manual?

Thanks, Jon

Yes, the ten tooth model. On later Mustangs the auto and manual starters are the same. I don't know that I might prefer to spend another ten to twenty dollars and just pick a rebuilt one from a local parts store. You can't beat DB's prices theough. The last time I asked for just a solenoid it was sixty dollars by itself. Chain parts stores also sell those new Chinese starters but they are twice the price. They also want your core. Why a core exchange for a brand new part I have no idea.

I would think so, since the starter bolts to the AOD and if you use the correct AOD flywheel it should line up the same regardless of motor.

Starter arrived Fri. just in time for weekend install. Looks even smaller than the website pic w/o the gaudy sticker too. Plan to weigh it and the standard Ford starter for comparison. May paint the gold barrel black later but going on as is for now. Came with instructions to run the start wire separate (battery & solenoid in trunk) and a full test sheet with torque, etc. at different kw inputs. Pretty thorough, I'm impressed with DB, will look to them if I ever change alt., etc.
