Assisted Parking on vehicles....

Wow....I wonder how much stress is put upon the front suspension? The front tires seem to be pulled in a direction rather than rolled.
 
should just pivot on the fronts....just like if you jack the rear of yours and twist the car sideways. They had a few films of that same deal on some smaller cars too.
 
But in making the car do a 180 the arc of the turning radius is smaller than the front wheel steering can handle thus they are being dragged sideways rather than rolled.

And what happened back then when he DID need his spare?
 
I think one wheel would roll forward, one wheel rools backwards as the car moves sideways. I have moved cars on a jack this way and they moved pretty easy.

As for the spare.........not sure if that was the spare also or if they carried another but just not shown in the video.
 
Yes, I wonder how the drive is really set up? One could sure do some damage with a bit of a loss of control.
