auto transmission problem

My C-4 auto transmission won't go into gear. Actually it will but it won't move the car. The car has been sitting mostly but I do run it about every two months. I can put it in gear and feel it try to engage, but the car won't move. Jacked it up and the wheels turn if you do one wheel at a time. If I put it in neutral, it won't move (non posi rear end.) I tried Trans Ex but made no difference, (a friend recommended that.)

I want to move the car, and wondered if anyone knows of a possible way to do that. I am going to sell it and don't want to sink too much $ into it. I have another 65 and have figured out that one is enough! Really hate to let it go, but it is mainly sitting and deteriorating. I'm guessing if I pull the driveshaft, I can push it to another location. Is there an easier option? Thanks in advance.

it should roll in neutral. Even in gear if it's not running. Maybe the shift linkage slipped out of adjustment? Have you tried low and/or reverse?

+ 1. sounds like it stuck in park.

The wheels all rotated when I jacked them up one at a time, so I don't believe it's the brakes. I guess I'll try and fool with the linkage. It seems to be shifting into the gears like I said earlier, I get the feeling that it is in gear (especially reverse,) but it won't go. I'll be gone most of the day but will check in later and see if any other ideas come up. Thanks

Have you checked your transmission fluid level? I had the same problem once and the dip stick showed the proper fluid level (wrong dip stick), car would try to move in reverse but not in drive, let it warm up and added a transmission fluid and it works great.

First I would check the oil level of the trans.
Like said previous , running a warm engine and in park , you can check trans oil level.
Second , check linkage under the car.
