B-17 crash Monday, Aurora, Ill

Damn shame...I love those planes. They usually come to our local airport once a year. (not that one, but one similar and always have a B-25 and a B-24 with it.)

My Grandfather and Uncle flew those in WWII.

The whole reason they joined up was because my other Uncle was a load master on one and was shot down over Italy and captured and spent 3 years in a German POW camp.

Too bad this one is now gone! Sad day!

Yep, that sucks! Thankfully the Captain was able to put it down and get everyone out safely.

Yes it does suck, but the bottom line is that there was no loss of life.

What a shame. Really glad everyone got out.

There is aviation museum near me that flies some of planes. I've been meaning to give them a resume to fly with them, but haven't had time for a part time gig. Maybe after I'm done with the reserves...

Sad indeed. The last B-24 flying was out my way last month and there was a B-17 accompanying it. Collings Foundation operates those two.

If I remember correctly, there are only 17, now 16 B-17s that can fly remaining...
