Barn find! (well, storage building find. non mustang) My new project

Awhile back I posted a thread looking for opinions on what car I should put my new 427 in. I found this about an hours drive from home. 64 Fairlane, rust free, already has the fiberglass teardrop hood, headlight ram air inserts and 9" rear end. I bought it with the intention of dropping in the 427 FE but the 289 that's in it runs so well I'm having a hard time thinking about cutting the shock towers for the conversion. I may keep it like this for awhile and just drive it, who knows. Anyhow here are a few pics. Lemme know what you think.

Wow, I am very jealous! If it were mine there would be some burgundy paint in the near future (the blue is sharp too) I hope the guy raped you on the price.....

Beautiful car!

Now yank the small block and make it into what it is meant to be! OK, maybe wait until after the summer season but then no doubt it needs that 427.

Nice find! If I saw that car with the teardrop and ram air inserts, I would be disappointed when the hood was popped and a little 289 was in there. On the other hand, I would hate to cut up a car that clean....

Man, that is SHARP! Drive that beach as it is!

I say the only way you can do that 427 in there is you have to Pro-Street the car. Tubs, cage the whole enchilada.

Lol. I didn't steal it. He was high, I was low. We met in the middle and were both happy.
I'll probably leave it blue since the original interior is blue and in fantastic condition. It will never be a clone car since it's a coupe and not a post car.

Awesome Fairlane, even if I am a bit biased. Great color too! Mine's a '63; we'll have to compare notes. If you haven't already found out, parts are sooooo much harder to find than what you are use to with Mustangs.

Yup. The 77 cobra II is my drag car. Hey, it's cool too!
I've already started finding out about the lack of parts availability, add to that the PO's hodgepodge of parts on this thing and it's gonna be a harder build than I figured on.

Is that a hi-po 289 badge? In 1965, I had a friend that bought a used 64 Fairlane, same color blue but with a white top and white interior. He said it had a 289 but it was a factory race engine. It didn't look special, no chrome air cleaner or chrome valve covers, just painted gold. But I do remember the streamlined cast iron manifolds. If I had known then what I know now. Anyway, that's a great looking Fairlane.

Thanks. It does have 289 high performance badges on it but it's a C code car. If it were a K code I wouldn't dream of cutting on it.
tarified1, here are a couple more pics of the II. It's still apart and I don't know when I'll ever make the time to finish it up and get it back to the track. I've actually been trying to sell it as a roller recently. It's tubbed with a 4 link rear suspension and a full tube chassis.

wow it looks pretty good.
hmmmmm....... If only I had money! what were you asking, or maybe I don't want to know...

You are absolutely disgusting showing all of that eye candy in that beautiful garage. I should post one of those huge posterior honeys to counterbalance this. :craz No I will just say that I was out working in my yard today installing sprinklers and it was hot in the afternoon sunshine. :bird Nice acquisition on the Fairlane. :5 fd
