Bay Area Mustang Meet & Cruise, Nov. 10

It's a bit far for me too - I'm coming from Concord. It's a good way to put all my new steering and suspension parts to the test, though. I saw some photos from the last run they did and it looked pretty awesome, so I'm going to try and make it, and I'll share pictures here if I do.

I like the logo for the headlights company - It's pretty risqué in a day and age where everything is "offensive" to someone. I recently went to a machine shop in Livermore to help my brother pick up his rebuilt Camaro engine, and they had two old-school calendars on the wall with scantily-clad women. Reminds me of my dad's garage, and a simpler time...

I didn’t make it out on this drive but my friend went in her ‘67 Fastback. Here’s a couple of pics she sent me.
Looks like it was great weather and there were a lot of nice Mustangs, plus a few other cars.

A Corvette? Who would drive one of those?

I mean, to each their own, and I'm sure the Corvette guys say the same thing about Mustangs, but...

My stepfather is a Corvette guy. Always has been. He has owned many over the years and currently has a '66 and a '14, both convertibles. I recently drove both: the '66 for a day and the '14 for a few days since it needed to have a few hundred miles put on it in order to pass smog after a battery change.

The '66 is a pretty car, but it's interior is uncomfortable, firewall is unreasonably hot, and it rides like a pickup truck. Not a fan.

The '14 is fast, and of course has all the creature comforts of any modern car, but it also feels totally disconnected from the driving experience (I'm saying that as a Tesla owner!), is a pain in the ass to enter/exit, the cockpit feels cramped, and I could never find a seating position that worked well for me. Also, everywhere we went for those three days, some idiot would want to race me. It's a totally stock car with no exterior mods (owned by an 80-year-old), but for some reason it's mere presence brings out the drag racer in just about everyone.

Bottom line is that I would never buy either of those cars. Sure, I'm biased towards '67 Mustangs, and have owned four of them over the last 40 years, but I'm a pretty open-minded car guy and have owned everything from Datsuns, Porsches (back when they were cheap), and even Chevrolets. After driving those two Corvettes, though - no thanks.

Can you believe there is someone just dumb enough to purchase two corvettes?
