Being stuck at work sucks right now

Steve, you'll be OK. Police have a perimeter and the school is on lockdown as a precaution. These types are usually crack fiends trying to get a quick buck. He probably ran away and the cops have to do this in order to show the dumbasses in the neighborhoods that they are doing something. These types of operations rarely produce any perps!

They are for show. I think as long as your kids are in a group setting and with adults they will be fine! It sounds like this guy is a lone wolf so to speak.

The best thing you can do in relax as best you can and stay busy.

My prayers are with you. I understand how you must feel. I have kids too.

They will be okay Steve. Sounds like this coward is on the run now, and won't go around places with lots of people. I'll keep an eye on the news and let you know if they get him.

Thanks, guys. My guess is he was long gone by the time the police showed. My daughter doesn't go to Lassiter, but to the Middle school near there. My son's daycare, though, is right in that backyard. They are on lockdown too...It was good when they sent us the email letting us know.

I keep refreshing the browser every 20 or so minutes, but I think the news has quit following the story. Ryan, if you see anything on the news, a note here would be great, but I'm not too worried...Just hate all that going on right around both my kids, and I'm an hour away.

Hang in there bud. While there is probably nothing to worry about I'd be all over it too. I'll say a little prayer for everybody.

That crap happened when we were kids too, but the news wasn't on it as fast. We had to read about it in the next days news paper.

Remember the bomb scares?

Anyway, keep your chin up and try to relax.

Your kids will be just fine, I hope they have a "usual day" at school and daycare, no need to frighten them.
I bet that woman was walking with her ipod in and not paying attention to her surroundings. Sound a lot like my daughter, music full blast... in her own little world. I've turned blue in the face getting on to her for that... it just takes a second for someone to notice you aren't paying attention. I hope the woman who was attacked is okay and they find the scum :fbomb (er)

Last year we had some idiot bring a gun to my kids school (more than once) I know EXACTLY how you feel, although I'm just 15 minutes from my kids high school, it was no one in - no one out and there wasn't a damn thing I could do.

THanks for the kind words and prayers, all.

I haven't heard if they caught the guy, but venture to guess "No."

The woman was in the hospital last I heard. She had been raped. According to what I've heard, she was walking her dogs. This is a very odd occurrence for this area. Very low crime, family oriented, upper middle and upper class neighborhood (We're the poor folks, LOL) and things like this rarely happen here. The area the woman was walking in is not where you'd expect this to happen, as it's in the middle of a busy area, but at the same time, the park itself is usually very quiet.

The kids, of course, are home safe. My daughter usually walks a half mile home, and then stays at home alone until we get home, but today my wife picked her up and took her back to work, just in case the guy is hiding around here. Our daughter is very very pretty (lucky for her, not my biological daughter! LOL) and 13, and not exactly street savvy.

Nevertheless , i also have 2 kids and worrying when something likes this comes up on the news.
I know how you feel !!
And if you feel that you want to talk about it , you should do this.
Even this forum has ears for those problems.Am i right or am i right ?

Similar crap different city. My daughter is a junior in High School and the school uses an automated call system to give us updates on her. "Your daughter received an A on a test in second period, your daughter needs to study for a test in fourth period" and so on. On Wednesday I get that automated call, but in the afternoon and from some politician (forgot the title) saying that there was a rapist in our area targeting young females. White male 25-30, blond hair, blue eyes, thin beard and mustache. Car description and so on. Police are following leads, safety suggestions and so on. They made the announcement at her school and she brought a letter home repeating the information. (English on one side, Spanish on the other side.) Her high school is 1.5 miles away and she does not walk to school. The SWMBO takes her most mornings, or me or her friends. Friends bring her home. Sad sad times that we live in. fd
