Looks like my house is gonna get a little quieter. My son, his girlfriend and my grandson are moving into their own place January 1st! We'll miss having them around, :sad but I gotta admit, I'll enjoy the quiet. :) Still have my 11 year old around. He helps with the car and we are going to start geocaching, so we'll have things to do. Mama's a little somber but I think a few tequila sunrise's will help that. :cry
Looks like I need to help them move in the coming weeks.

Yep....lots of mixed emotions. Remember, they can still visit but now, you can send them home.....

More room to store the Yukon Jack!

Your future DIL is worthy of being in the family...consider yourself very lucky.

Ronnie,
My 24 year old son is about to move out and though I'm dying for the day to happen, I am going to be very sad. I want him out yet I love him dearly and want him home.

It's gonna be tough.

24? Dude, cut the cord..... J/K, I'm sure I'll be the same way when mu kiddo is ready to go..

All of mine are out. When I got back in Sept, the youngest had moved. It has been quiet around here. I miss having them around, but when they visit and I've had enough noise, they go home and quiet again.

My nephew and BIL visited a while back and it got noisy around here. Kinda fun, but after they left it only took a day to be happy for the quiet again.

My 16 year old wants to move out as soon as she can to get away from her Mother :eek:mg that would be my SWMBO :beat I keep telling her that she needs to find a place with an extra room and a garage because I will be moving in with her. :craz fd

I hate to admit how old my youngest was when he finally left the nest. But even months later I still found myself waiting for him to come in at night. Miss our late night chats.
Empty nest is a real situation that causes ambivalent feelings.
My kids all tease that we got the pup to fill the void. Might be some truth.

J.

Sounds like it's about time for a motorcycle to take mama on a long trip! :craz Around here it seems that when the nest gets empty a new goldwing shows up in the garage...lol. I've got one left at home that is 25...Dear Lord please help him move along. :cry

If it gets "too quiet" let me know and I can always send my 8 y.o. twin boys for a visit.

They are shy at first but after they warm up you'll be wishing they were shy again.

I can't wait till my almost 22 son finally gets with the program and hits the door for good instead of a coulple of months at a time. I have had a few small taste of the "quiet" and it tasted Damn good.

Could be worse...one of my older sisters is 42, has a masters degree and is still sponging off Mom and spending our inheritance.

Dont ever think that they are gone just because they left.
They always come back at least once.
And even if they arent at home anymore, they dont seem to cost any less

We had one son that didn't want to leave. Actually moved out of his bedroom once and we converted it to a work room. He returned and took over an add-on room that once was a hobby room. After some time, I talked to him about leaving and he went out of town to make arrangements. When he came back, the room he was using was gone. He thought we tore it off the house and never knew any different. We sold it to a friend, separated it from the main house one day and moved it 2 miles down the road at 3am. The room was 12 X 24. After that, he decided to move and from then on, he asked if he could visit. The entire thing was a bit funny after it was all done.

Wonderful. :po

After all these stories, it just reinforces the decision to NOT have kids. I like my peace and quiet, if I need a fix of loud, I go out and fire up the 66.

I can remember how happy my Mom was when I moved out lo those many years ago! She helped me carry my stuff to the car. I still can picture her happy face when I said my cousin and I were moving.

Good times!
