Frank, et al,

I have seen a lot of black n yellow lettered CA plates. Can I get an old plate re-made in this Program?

I heard the whining from purists, but like seeing them out there. They do seem to be the most popular with the black vehicle crowd.

No, it's not possible to get an original Black plate configuration on a new Legacy plate (new black plate). You can switch an existing personalized plate to the Legacy base, or get a sequential set. It uses the configuration A123B4. I'm seeing lots of them out there as well, it seems to be a hit.

I don't like it. They should be kept for use on period proper vehicles only. It really looks out of place on newer cars, yes even Frank's and Mike's! Just my two cents.

Can I still get my old plates that are year verified re-registered to my car?

I think that is possible...as long as you have them in hand...never give them up, even if the DMV person asks for them.

And Ken I totally agree. The black plates belong to period correct only......except for mine. Everyone else it should be illegal.:D:rolleyes:

I originally thought they'd only be appropriate for retro-styled vehicles. When I got my Mazda, I decided the black plates would look better than the white ones. I believe they've negatively impacted my vintage sticker business, though. A lot of people have opted for the Legacy plates instead of finding YOM plates.

Yes. You need a pair, of course. If your plates were once registered to the car but aren't now, and you have proof of that (old registration slip), then you can get them reassigned to that car without resorting to the YOM process.
