Boeing 707 Tanker crashes at Point Mugu

it takes a lot to ignite JP-8.

I will swing by the base tomorrow and see what I can see. I am sure lots of people are gawking. FAA and NTSB will be investigating as the aircraft has a N registration #.....

I believe it's N707AR....
 
Article in this morning's paper states engine fire cause of crash/aborted takeoff.

These 707's still use the old cigar style engines (Prat and Whitney TF-33-PW-102) - most of the Air Force's KC-135s have been converted to use high bypass turbofan engines (CFM-56) which are much more efficient and reliable.
