Bought a push mower Sunday, then another today, I give up!

I looked at several stores Sunday for a push mower for our daughter and son-in-law who just bought a house this fall,(Christmas gift) not a lot of stores have them out in December but I found a mtd at menards for 159 -(marked down from 189) it had a rear bagger with it also--I never looked at it real close because it was on the top rack---it had a powermore engine, I looked up powermore engines today and saw they were made in china and had terrible reviews---I started looking online and saw sears had a husqvarna rear bagger push mower for $199 (marked down from $239)--it has a Koehler motor on it, I told the wife I would return the Menards mtd and I ordered the sears Husqvarna--just for the heck of it I looked up reviews on this mower and guess what---chinese built Koehler motor---I give up!--the koehler is supposed to be a honda wannabe and has good reviews, just the idea I assumed Koehler was still american built. Rant over---

My father in law worked for Tecumseh machining engine parts most of his life. Then about 5 years ago they shut down the plant and shipped everything to south America to build them there. To many plants moving out of the country these days.

I'd be surprised if you could find anything made here anymore.

+1.
Blame cheap offshore manufacturing costs and "Walmart shopper" mentality. It will eventually come back to bite us squarely on our asses.

Ariens has a plant about a half hour from me. Not sure what percentage of their stuff is made there. My father in law went to work there when tecumseh closed and just retired.

Also have to blame corporate greed for some and C.E.O.'s making 100 million.

I guess it bothered me enough to continue on my mower quest to cancel the husqvarna with the chinese engine and order a craftsman with briggs platinum series engine--I called briggs and stratton this morn and the lady said it was american made for the most part, carb and a few small parts were foreign--that is about as close as I can get.

You know people buying foreign cars didn't help, greed by other then corporations also played a part and high labor cost in the US.

There's this type of push mower that's a bit cheaper and has an American motor:

Maybe, but that is one motor that can handle ethanol, I'll bet!

You are not going to believe this--the mower I bought online at sears this afternoon went down 10 frxxxn dollars tonight!

Speaking of ethanol, and the fact i haven't railroaded a thread for a couple of days,
Santa is bringing the Princess her new Holden VE SS commodore, LS6, 6 speed auto, which will be here December 20.
The big Chev is rated to E85 in OZ, which is now available, made from Sorghum.
The one I test drove had E85 in it and still pulled like a 14 year old boy.
