Bought a shop crane.

Perfect, you may want to add a load leveler if it did not come with one, it will come in handy if you decide to install the motor and trans together.

You're right...and he said he did

Thanks guys.

I just wanted to make sure before I put it together. I got it for $99, and I did get the load leveler too.

I have that same one, except I bought mine back in 96. It's worked great for me and a couple friends over the years.

$99 was a steal! I remember buying that same one back in '98 and it was twice that price. It served me well for a couple years until I traded it for a set of wheels/tires.

The only thing you have to be careful of with this style lift is moving the crane while there's an engine dangling from it. Moving it forward on those small casters should be done carefully. Moving it sideways should be done VERY carefully. I'll assume you have no experience with this tool and offer one more piece of advice.... when the crane is carrying an engine, always try to move the crane forward and aft with the engine as close to the floor as possible (not banging on the cranes forward legs though). The higher the engine, the worse the center of gravity. I got sloppy one time and started pushing a lifted engine across the shop floor, hit a small washer that froze one of the casters and brought the crane to a stop, but the momentum of the engine moving (started swinging) almost tipped the whole shebang over. Work safely and with common sense and you'll be fine.

how did you get that for $99? I know HF is throwing a tent sale later this month and that 1 ton cherry picker I believe is listed but not for $99

Thanks for the advice. I haven't pulled an engine in about 15-20 years.
I borrowed my uncle's crane to bring the engine home and didn't want to have to get it every time I need one.

Harbor Freight had a coupon for $99 in my motor trend magazine, from last month I think. Perfect timing for me.

I thought I would add the coupon code for the crane in case anyone else is looking to get one.
you can use this code online 41281551 brings it done to $99
