Bumpsteer kits

I've been looking at the power TCP rack...and the bumpsteer kit is not a requirement for the installation. but I believe that they recommend it. (of course they're gonna say that, so they can sell you more stuff!!) IIRC, all you need is the tie rod for manual steering. When I get around to buying and installing the rack, I'm just gonna use my existing tie rods.
 
Most year Mustang spindles have bumpsteer issues. The only way to know if you need a bumpsteer kit to reduce or eliminate it is to measure what bumpsteer you have.
 
I have the TCP power rack and did need a bumpsteer kit; actually I was already running the Baer bumpsteer kit so I just reused it. I would suggest you try another brand, b/c the very thick cast collar on the Baer contacts the rack at full right hand lock and limits the turning radius that way to a small degree.
You really need to remove the coil spring and jack the spindle up and then down 3 inches from center (ride height position), and measure how much the disk surface toes in or out as you raise and lower your spindle.
I plotted my before and after on MS Excel, but I can't find my files on it. I have one of them (forget which) on my yahoo geocities website, and looked like this image:

PS- when you are installing the inner tie rods to the rack's centerlink, make sure when you tighten the castle nuts that they are not bottoming out on the tie rod stud. In other words, you may "tighten" the nut to say 50lbs torque, but the tie rod is not tight to the centerlink... you've just reached the end of the threads on the tie rod stud and the nut won't go further. If that is the case, space out the nut with a few washers to ensure you are drawing in the tie rod fully without getting a false torque reading.

I would use TCP'S bumpsteer kit and tie rod ends.
A quick way to observe if you may have bumpsteer issues is once its installed look at your tie rods and verify they are level with the ground (level surface) if they are leaning upwards then you more than likely need a bumpsteer kit.

The tcp kit is adjustable.
 
I have the TCP manual R&P and needed a bumpsteer kit. I installed the Baer kit and like Ken, had interference with the Baer collar and the Rack (It's not so bad that I have changed it out).

Just a note, the bumpsteer kits with the hemispherical bearings are great for reducing your steering effort, even if you do not have bumpsteer issues (just set it up neutral). I think it's a worth while upgrade regardless.
