Bypass hose

So I went to the store and bought a bypass hose for a 1990 Mustang GT.. since that's what the engine is. Well one end of the hose is larger than the other side and isn't exactly a tight fit on the water pump. The new water pump I got is for a '90 GT (as was the previous one) so I assumed I'd have to get the hose for a '90 GT. I only have a 2" piece of the old one that was cut off so I have no idea if the old hose was like this new one, small one end/large other end. Maybe I need one for a '66 mustang? :shrug

Check the thermo side for the larger hose end to attach.
Most bypass hoses are 5/8 for the pump side and 3/4 at the stat side.

They do make them the same size on both ends. I have run into that problem. The persone bhind the parts counter should be able to find one.

You are running a 66 thermostat housing.......not a 90 type.

That's what I thought as well. I know that some 70 Fords had different size ends, but I dont recall my 64 1/2 or 66 being different.

Both same size and varing end size are sold.
It is best to verify what you need before buying.
Depending on the outlets bypass port as some were large 3/4 cast size
and some repop's are 5/8.

I took back the one I bought and said give me one with both sides the same as the small side on this one I just bought... and it worked. That's all connected and hooked up now. Everything is together on the motor mostly. Just a few things that need to be added like the carb, the new spark plugs and headers.. all those I'm going to put on after it's sitting back in the car.
