CA black plate-related item on eBay

I thought this was pretty cool:

Looking at the list of DMV plate assignments, Glendale DMV got JER through JKZ, so based on the date of the photograph it looks like the JFK plates may have been assigned out of order.

Also, the caption mentions the manager of an auto club branch, so it seems even back then that you could get plates at your auto club (AAA).
