Calipers - Brembo vs PBR

I'm looking into front brake options for my '66 fastback and I'm seriously considering the fancy new Brembos that everyone seems to be gaga over on the newer Mustang GTs.

With Brembo calipers being used on GT500s for the past few years and recently on GTs that means they have to be slightly less exotic than they were 10 years ago, but are they really THAT much better than the PBR calipers that were in use on SVTs and Mach 1s a few years ago? They're certainly more expensive.

Consider this, you can get both on the new Mustang GT. Stopping distances on both are very similar, around 110 ft 60-0. On a track with brake abuse, the Brembos will fade less, but for a street car I doubt you'd see a big difference. Also, your wheel options will be very limited with the Brembos.

I agree. If this is a street car that will not see track duty any quality caliper will do a very good job. How much $ is the the brand bling worth to you is the real question IMHO. Very good point about wheel fitment as well.

Ryan, I take it the rotors are larger for the Brembo package? 14" vs. stock 13" I'm guessing? Are the calipers themselves bigger or smaller than the stock GT ones if you know? Is the mounting for the brembos the same stock location as the GT calipers or do they use some type of bracket/spacer?

Jon, yes the Brembos have 14" rotors vs 13" for stock. Not sure on the caliper size, but the Brembos are 4 piston opposed fixed calipers, while the stock are 2 piston floating. I'm also unsure if the brackets are the same.
