Calling all 1967 Owners

I have a client that I'm trying to chase down a problem with a 1967 dash. The brake light indicator has wires that go through the firewall to the single wire sensor and to a spade connector on the outside of the ignition switch. All of the documentation I have doesn't indicate whether this spade connector is to be hot with any key position or not.

Can someone either look in their owner's manual for brake indication light on the dash is to illuminate with a key position, and if so, which position? Can you also confirm whether the operation in the owner's manual actually works or not?

I'll reveal what the problem is after I get some valid information.

Thanks!

The question I have is not whether it can light up in any situation, but does it light up when moving the key around to the various positions with it normally being off and not applying the brakes? Sort of like nowadays when you turn the key on, all of the dash idiot lights show up to demonstrate that the bulbs are not burned out.

It does not light up as I move the key from the off to the run to the start position.
I have never clicked back to alt.

I always taught that the brake indicator light only lights up when one or the other hydraulic circuit lost fluid so the plunger moved to one side in the prop valve and the switch on the prop valve made a contact to ground.???

Am I wrong about this ??

You are correct, Bruno. However, the light is also powered up when the key is in the CRANK position. I disassembled a switch today and confirmed that is the case; most likely a way to proof out that the bulb is still working.

The problem was that the wire going from the ignition spade lug to the sensor burned up, frying the insulation. The short circuit was caused by a broken ignition switch which had a small piece of plastic stuck in the lever position to close the contact for the internals to make power to the external spade lug.

OK , I am gonna pay attention next time I crank the engine of the fastback.
Thanks for the info Randy.

The Concours guys said that the light may light up only briefly when going from OFF to RUN or from RUN to CRANK, which is possible based upon what I saw of the switch.
