Well, not sure what those are, but I have a T5 in the 67 and a TKO in the 65. not real hard to do. You need to figure out which clutch setup you want....Hydraulic or cable or Z bar like Craig has, and new cross member. I had the drive shaft in the 67 modified, but purchased a new drive shaft for the 65. The 67 had a Fairlane drive shaft in it which is stronger than the Mustang one so that is why I had it shortened and a new yoke put on it. the 65 had the stock shaft, I changed it out for a stronger one.

I have a history of twisted drive shafts, so I try to get a stronger one than stock. I had a 76 F250 with a separate transfer case and kept twisting the little half shaft when I put the 460 in it. Loved that truck, but it was a money pit when I couldn't afford it to be.

I so want another one, but SWMBO says NO! Hehehehe

That doesn't look like any T5/Tremec I've ever seen. Looks more like one of the trans. that will only bolt to a mod motor...I don't see a removeable bellhousing.

I'll take "Won't bolt to an SBF" for $100, Please, Alex.

The two to the front are T56 out of a Cobra and the ones toward the back appear to be T5. The T5 is a piece of cake but the T56 would take some work to install correctly. In order to get the T56 6spd to work you will need motor mounts that drop the engine (Ron Morris or build your own) and a crossmember that works. Ron Morris and DVS Restorations have crossmembers that should work but may need modified, or you can fabricate your own which is what I'll be doing. The drop motor mounts are needed to get the proper driveline angle. I mocked up the T56 in my 70 mach with stock motor mounts and with the trans hitting the tunnel I was getting a 5° driveline angle, which is greater than the 3° maximum. The T56 also has an electronic speedometer output, so you'll need either an electronic speedometer or a converter box like the Abbott Cable-X. When dropping the motor you may run into clearance issues with the front crossmember piece that bolts to the frame above the steering linkage, as well as decreased ground clearance with headers. The only way to avoid using drop motor mounts is to cut the trans tunnel and raise it. You will need a conversion bellhousing to bolt up to the SBF, which McLeod or Quicktime has. The T56 is definitely not a plug-and-play install, but it depends on how bad you want that 6spd :pbj 68EFIVert (Darreld) installed one in his 68 convertible and can provide more info.

Good call on the T56 buening. As he said it is not a direct bolt in but can be done without cutting the trans tunnel. Let us know if you go down this path. There are a few guys on here that can help out.

the one the guy has for sale is a 5 speed he says its a T55 i never heard of this one.the others T56 in pics have been sold

Never heard of a T55. He may be adding an extra 5 to the name :lol

The lack of inspection cover/midshifter plates on the ones in the back rule out that he could have a T-3550, which is the early version of the TKO. This assumes that the back ones in the picture are the ones he's selling
