Can't tell if Gerturde is overheating or not.

About a month or so ago I dusted off the old girl and took her for a ride around town. All was fine until I got home. As I was pulling into my driveway, I heard funny gurgling noise and saw steam coming from the hood. I parked her, turned her off and then I saw water all up my driveway. Not good. I opened the hood, and turns out the little hose going from the radiator to the overflow tank popped off. Why would it just pop off? It's never done that before. Maybe it got clogged?

I have no clue what the temperature is as my dash gauge isn't working. Not sure if it's the gauge itself or temp unit isn't working. Brand new unit too. Was replaced a year ago? When I put the motor back in.

And I know, I've been a stranger! Been super busy with the new house, working, life. Haven't had anytime to work on Gertrude or drive her. :(

Who are you??

Get you a real temp gauge so you can monitor what is really going on.

A mechanical gauge that shows actual temps and is plugged into the T-stat housing. NOT an electrical dummy gauge!

I find having one of the many digital laser temp. sensors really pays off. You can pin point the hot spots and verify what the engine is doing.

As far as your issue, could be an air bubble trapped, loose fitting hose, plugged hose, bad thermostat, bad cap, or the car saying it needs to be driven more.....

Good to see you back.
