Car Cover

I am just going to let this topic fade away, but if you are putting them away I think that is the best thing you can do, based on my limited understanding of the situation.

My Mustang days came at 30, trust me I wanted a fastback so bad in high school but studying and college were my top priorities and trust me it has paid off.

Good Luck!

gtscode, and cmayna, I apolagize for snapping the other day though. I had a rough day to start with and then reading that just made me snap, so I apolagize, it just sounded like ya'll were saying that if I can't afford my cars, then I have no place with them, and the reason that pissed me off is because classic cars are what I love, and I don't appreciate anybody telling me that I have no place or business doing something that I love.

southern_boy,
I am sorry if I was a little too strong in my initial reply to your post. Without a lot of information about you or anyone else, we are always taking a chance in replying to such posts as yours. I am very certain that you have a heart of gold for your Mustang as I and others do for ours. It is just the type of questions we ask based upon our history that might raise flags.

It is sometimes very wise to let everyone know upfront where you are financially, etc, being a student or simply someone who is young, struggling to work but love Mustangs. Then we would know how to reply to such posts.

Whereas if you were a rich snob and don't care about anyone except for your Mustang, then we would have a clear direction where to take such posts.

In my eyes, the major thing that saves you from going to hades in my books is your quest on information on a cleveland. As I am sure you know, Shag is sporting a pretty aggressive 351c which will probably get it into trouble. But what else is new?

True. I gave away a rear for an I6 car to a guy who "needed" it only to find out later he sold it. It's not that I would ever use it or could even get much for it but the principle is what got me, and gets others, on edge.

I apologize for the backlash to your comment I had a rough day starting out that day. And I thank you for the kind hearted reply to my apology. I didn't want to put this big long story of im a student and have no time to work, im not much for making sob stories for my self. Also, shag is sporting a 351 C, why haven't you replied to my thread on 351 Cleveland set ups??? lol.

Funny thing is I was thinking what the heck does football season have to do with a job? Now it makes sense.

I'm too busy getting the car road worthy?

I get lazy?

I take too many naps?

No excuse?

Pick any of the above.

I know how you feel. I have worked since I was 13. I bought my Mustang when I was 15 (not with Dad and Mom's money either). I played football in high school worked over 25 hours a week and still tried to make time for my Mustang. It isn't an easy task. Not to mention keeping the grades up. I didn't do everything right on my Mustang because of the lack of funds. My Dad helped me a ton too and that was a big help. Now trying to get it road worthy again. Good luck with school, football and the Mustang! You will have no regrets choosing football over the Mustang. You only have that chance for a short time in life. The Mustang will be there when that time is over.

Seeing those pics of Shags engine makes me feel good about going with the black block. That thing looks awesome under the hood. :craz

What is the little cap for on the radiator hose?

That's a Gano filter, a filter that can be cleaned on a regular basis. It traps particulates that shed from the engine block and keeps from clogging the radiator.

That's a cool gadget. Might be something else I may want to add later on.

It is a Tefba coolant filter. Not Gano. Gano, is strictly an inline filter which you need to drain part of the coolant, then remove the inline filter. Whereas Tefba is a simple inline with a cap. Once cool you simply unscrew the cap, pull up and out the filter to remove any trapped particles.

This really applies only when:

You have just had a motor rebuilt and it will catch all the excessive particles that you normally find after a rebuild.....

or

You have just bought a use motor and know nothing about it.

In my case, I connected one to Red's used motor and kept on collecting crap for 18+ months. Now nothing. With Shag, the builder must have done very well for I have found very little contaminants so far.

Once everything settles down, I will probably replace it with a stock upper hose.

Perhaps I should add one of these to each of my stangs when I get them going, considering the 67 has a rebuild engine, and the 73 has only ran once since I had it, and hasn't run until now from the 80s. So perhaps it'd be good for both of them, when I get them running?

I would say that is a good idea. I still get small pieces of crap out of my filter and it has been on there a year or so.
