Carb issue...I think

buening

Now that the car is back on the road, its time to fine tune some things. I'm having problems getting the motor to react when I mash the pedal quickly from a stop. It basically falls flat on its arse for a few seconds and then kicks into gear. The motor seems responsive by flipping the throttle open quickly while parked in the garage working under the hood.

Motor specs are a fairly stock 351w with stock heads and bottom end, Comp XE262H cam, dual plane intake, Holley 670cfm street avenger, Duraspark Dizzy and box, T56 manual trans. I have good vacuum and I'm running 35

Does it have removable squirters? I had to try diff ones in my DP to get it perfect.

Yeah I've been reading other random forums from a google search and that is a common suggestion as well, increasing the size of the squirters. One mentioned that the Avengers have standard squirters and to replace them with downleg squirters. I have found that the 670 has 0.031" squirters, which aren't exactly small (0.025" are the smallest). Did you increase your squirter size?

From the carb's manual, I have:

Prim Metering Jet: 65
Sec Metering Jet: 68
Pump Discharge Nozzle: 0.031"
Primary Power Valve: 65
Secondary Power Valve: None
Secondary Diaphragm Spring: Silver
