Charging problem

Wasn't really sure where to post this but I'm having a problem with my charging system. I went to take out the car this morning and found a semi dead battery just enough so it would start. Now my car has a brand new battery and stays on the tender when not in use. I've noticed of a late that my alternator is making a funny noise and ive never heard that before. Idk if the alternator is on its way out or what But I think it is. Before i buy a new one anyone suggest anything I was looking at the chrome powermaster 17078. I guess the only real test I can do is pull the battery while its running and see if it quits. :shrug

Could be alternator, could be drain somewhere else. Have the alt tested. A little confusing with a new battery staying on the tester.

Get a meter and check voltage at the battery while its running, you should have 13-14 volts. And resistance to ground between the battery negative post and the block should be 1 ohm or less.

I've got 14.5 while running. But there is a strange noise coming from the alternator almost sounds like brushes rubbing against each other

Your description of sound is the front nose bearing running dry.
Take a can of penatrating oil with a tube and give the cone bearing/shaft behind the pulley
a short shot and see if the noise stops.
Yes, your going to have to replace the alt soon.

Alright time to swap out alt and I'll spray down that bearing hopefully that's then end of my problems for a while

Well the noise got much louder last night when I took it out for a spin, I ordered a new power master alt so hopefully that solves all problems. I dout it tho :char
