Chevy says "your welcome" Ford Mustang

How do they figure Mustang is playing catch up? In 64 Mustang was first and the Camaro was a couple years behind, playing catchup. then the Camaro went away, while Mustang went forward and once again Camaro was late to the party and playing catchup.

Now there is a horsepower war going on and it seems to be a game of checkers....To elementary for chess...

Whoop dee frick'n doo. They've all become big, fat, overweight bricks. Take that 400hp and put it in a <3,000lb car. The new Camaro is butt ugly. The Challenger looks good, but feels like an SUV at speed (got to drive a Hemi on track). The brakes are frick'n awesome though!

That's exactly why these kids today can't understand. It's all about "how much horsepower does it have" and they never "think" to ask how much torque and what does it weigh. Yep, it is butt ugly car, I think it will be out of style in a short time.

Re: Chevy says "your welcome" Ford Mustang

The camaro looks like it was designed and carved out of a block of play dough by a bunch of 5 year olds.

I would like to say thanks to GM! That's right, THANKS! Without them, who would we have to provide our daily laugh (besides Flysure)?!

Yesterday I saw a clip from the 2011 SEMA show. Some moronic movie director was trying to explain the "ying and yang" of things. He stated without Coke there would be no Pepsi...and without Camaro there would be no Mustang! :wtf

I also watched the GM produced 100th anniversary show. They stated that a car comes along that "defines" the style. They said the Camaro did that. Umm, okay, the Mustang came out 3 years BEFORE the Camaro (Hollywierd tool boy), and the long hood, short trunk body style is referred to as a "PONY" car. Oh my, what a bunch of clueless idiots! I guess it comes down to whatever these folks have to tell themselves to make it through the day! Doesn't "Camaro" translate to "Clueless" in Latvian? LOL

In a small way I somewhat agree. I am glad that the whatsacamero is back. In short competition. The whatsacamero had a 300hp V6 and a 400hp V8. So what does Ford do? Match it, and up them a few ponies. There will always be cheby lovers and Ford fanatics, and lets not forget those mopar dudes. From the outside the challenger and whatsacamero are nice looking cars, I really do like the retro look and hope that the Mustang does not stray to far from it in the coming years.

This statement sounds like someone who knows they are struggling- "yeah they have more hp but who cares anymore" - Just admitt you lost the HP battle- Instead rave about how camaro will have a new "Track car!" like mustang had not already produced a car just for track use with the Boss 302. There is no way mustang is years behind camaro They are just trying to cover up years of cheap one off designs of mustangs- Just look at the difference in interiors over the years which one looks cheaper?-

Send this to the chief engineer of camaro, his statement would probably be-" We might be beat with the mustangs Horsepower,Quality,Styling, So what if they can beat us in a straight line, Anyone who wants an american muscle car dosen't look for that anyway" right buddy if I have 60,000$ to spend on a muscle car i want the ugliest, cheapest, car with the least amount of power- :jerk I don't know how chevy presidents & fans can't see egg all over their faces...

GT motors are 5.0L, Camaro's are what, 6.2L supercharged. My car's 2 1/2 seconds faster around track X than yours. Again, WTF cares?

I remember quite well back in the 80's when it was the same thing. Camaro owners were always talking smack, but when push came to shove, I never had one finish in front of my stock 84GT. Everytime I turned around some GM owner was flapp'n his tooth & gums and everytime they came up with the same ole excuses why they got beat.

Not one time in my life have I ever said my car's faster than X, but I have shut a few people up afterwards. Let the car speak for itself. Thankfully, I got a tad bit wiser as I've aged and no longer participate in those crazy exchanges. Now, I just tell em when the next track day is and if they have any balls, bring it to the track.....They never show.

In all fairness that was not a stock 1967 GT500 interior. This is...

Ooops-
In my eyes the stock 67 interior is nicer than the top of the line Z28 for 67.... And as for the new camaro interior anything is better- :puk

Fixed it for ya.

BTW, don't forget, Ford already released Mustang track cars a number of years ago (both for road racing AND drags)!! I guess GM doesn't count the road racing ones. Why? Because they weren't even MAKING Cramaros then!!! :roll

For those GM doubters, I hasten to remind them of the FR500 series and BOSS 302R1 road racing cars AND the FR500CJ for the drag strip. The FR series car development began around '99 and they began racking up championships beginning in '05. Guess that's because they had "no competition"? Bite that GM!!! :guns

Not to change the subject but did you notice the 2012 Silverado commercial? We all had a good laugh at how :homo that was, also the musical car one- WTF?? THOSE ARE YOUR COMMERCIALS?? A didlle-do hanging out of an ugly chevy car hitting piano keys??- Why would that make someone want to buy a car? you wasted your bail-out money on tacky commercials- great job...

I think the competition is great. How else would we have the HP and performance in cars now if it wasn't for the company competition.

But there was a reason they stopped production on the Camaro. Poor sales. Hence people didn't like them. And Mustang....well those years were the start of the new gen performance for Mustangs. Mustangs sold.

I sort of like the Camaro...but its still way too big and slab sided.

I think all '67 Shelbys had consoles (and roll bars and shoulder harnesses). The console became an extra cost option in '68. The pic of the classic Camaro is a '69. '67's had vent windows and a totally different dash. The square openings in the dash in the pic are a '69-only design. All Z-28s had the twin "rally" stripes on the hood and deck. Contrary to the what you see with restomodded classic Camaros today, no other Camaros were available with those stripes in '67-'69. The '67 Z-28 was thrown together in January '67 solely to homologate the 302 ci engine for the SCCA Trans Am series. There were only about 600 Z's made in '67, and they weren't supposed to be luxurious. The whole package -- disc brakes, tach, upgraded suspension, solid lifter Holley-carbed forged cranked 2.02 headed engine (really a de-stroked Corvette 365 hp 327) 4-spd -- added only $400 or so to the base price. The Shelby GT500 was a high-end luxury car, and the only pony car in '67 with a dual quad 7-liter. It was an expensive car to make, too, starting with a 390 ci Mustang and doing a complete engine swap at Shelby American's shop at LAX. For all that, the Camaro 375 hp 396 -- the same solid lifter Holley-carbed engine as had been available in the '65 Corvette with a 425 hp rating -- could eat the Shelby's lunch. Also, astute Chevy dealers like Yenko and Nickey learned that you could special order Camaros with a 427 ci, 425 hp, version of the regular production order 396/375. These "COPO" Yenkos and Nickeys obviously were even stronger than the 396/375 version.
