Civil War photos - awesome shots from library of Congress

Had never good grades in history at school.Didn't interest me at the time.
But now I encourage my kids to learn about or history expeccially the first and second world war.
They should know what happend then so to make sure history won't repaet itself.

Interesting pics . . thanks. Enjoy reading and seeing about the Civil War. My ancestors on my mother's side lived in Tennessee so I have ancestors that fought on both sides, including two brothers, that fought on different sides at Chattanooga. My great-grandfather's uncle enlisted as a private in the Union Army at age 54--I often wonder what his reasons were.

My great-great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Strickler, was born in Sullivan County, TN, in 1829. In Nov, 1861, he enlisted Company H, 9th Kentucky Infantry (Union) and was at Battle of Shiloh. He died in Union Hospital #19 in Nashville March 25, 1863 and is buried at the VA cemetery (section E, site 245) in Nashville.
