Classic auto air or Vintage auto air?

Want to replace the AC system in my 69 and trying to decide which vendor to use? I am going with an R134 conversion.

The car has an in dash AC but it hasn't worked since I got it many years ago.

Which vendor would you choose and why?

Thanks,

Terry

HI Terry, I have a '67 Mustang coupe. On it I went with Vintage auto air, but to be honest, I didn't shop around, but I'm extremely pleased with it! All the hoses were made up and went right in, no fuss! Seems like everything fit perfectly!

On my 59 Chevy truck, I went with Classic. Just wanted to pass the buck I guess. But the truck was totally different, though uses the same compressor, but the rest of the install on it was crazy as all the hoses had to be meticulously measured, then sent back to be crimped by Classic. But both places have superb tech support!

I'm in the same boat as you.

Researched pretty heavily and can't seem to get a commitment on whether or not the kits have an idler pulley set to span the hub of the water pump pulley.

I decided to go with classic because they sell a kit which I can attach my original idler brackets to using a sanden compressor. They also offer a upgraded condenser that looks and mounts like the original.

They will rebuild your under dash parts as well.

PM me if you want further details.

Here's the under hood kit I bought.

Thanks guys,

I was looking at the Classic Engine Kit as I do not want to do the heater box now. I appreciate the input.

Bought and installed the Classic Auto Air kit. Goes in next week to be pressured tested and charged.

Impressed with the fit and had excellent help from Ron at Classic in Florida.

I was in a similar dilemma a few years ago. Classic Air or Old Air Products? We bought both. Ended up using the Classic Air and dumping the Old Air off on eBay at a small loss. Having both kits side by side allowed us to make the best decision. The deciding factor was both kits were designed/marketed to install AC into a non-AC car retaining the original factory Heater Control Panel. We were working on a factory AC car and wanted to use the original AC/Heat Control Panel. Classic Air also sold an auxillary kit that allowed us to retain/use the original factory AC/Heater Control Panel. The other kit did not. On the other kit, AC was somewhere between heat and defrost on the panel.

This was a few years ago, so the kits may have changed, but it's definitely something to ask the tech guys.
