clutch lever ?

I am using a 68-73 manual trans bellhousing to convert my 66 non hipo 289 to a stick...I am thinking I need to match the lever to the bellhousing. Is that correct? Or can I use a 6566 lever? TIA

Pat:
It's my understanding that the bell housings for the SBF are the same basic design from mid-65 onwards. That suggests using 66 levers and linkages.

I thought the 65-66 z-bar had a different lower rod attaching style. The 67 z-bar (what I have) has a hole in it for a pin on the lower rod to go through. The pictures of '66 rods I've seen have a hole in the end of the rod so a pin on the z-bar can go through it.

Check your z-bar, because obviously one rod isn't going to work on the other z-bar.

Thanks for the replies fella's...I may have used the wrong terminolagy...the part I am concerned about is the clutch fork. If you look in NPD's catalog they show 65-68 and 68-69. My bellhousing has a c5 part number but when you look that number up it is for the later models with the bigger flywheel.
