Colds keep getting nastier, wtf is up with that??

Well, after riding for 2 hours with my friend to Barrett, him coughing all the way, both my son and I have a cold. He won't claim it but I find it odd that my son and I got our cold at exactly the same time with similar symptoms, and my wife and youngest, whom didn't go are cold free?

Anyway, like I would ever know where this came from. I'm down and bored and everyone that I talk with that's had a cold recently, swears it has been the worst they've ever had, lasting weeks with a nagging tickle of a cough that lingers for months! I'm here in Sunny AZ with mid day temps in the high 70s...this is just not supposed to happen!

So what do you think, are colds getting worse?
 
I think you have some kind of the flu and that is contagious. :confu

A cold isn't contagious but hee man , I am not a M.D.

Drink a couple short ones a off to bed. :beer :puk
 
There are a lot of different viral things going around right now. Most seem to be 24 hour bugs. You may be in sunny AZ but people do travel to and from so the same crap we fight here in the Midwest is just as likely to be out there in the desert with you. At least you have sun and warmth.
 
Yes, they're getting worse. I attributed it to getting older, but who knows. I know I can count on one per year, and they knock my right on my ass for a few days.

My wife got that after Thanksgiving and is just now getting over the bad cough.

I've not had a bad cold in years (knock on wood) so for me, the issuue seems to be getting better, but I've also had reduced public contact so that helps too. I also wash my hands after coming home, try to turn away & defintely hold my breath for several seconds when others nearby cough & sneeze, etc.
 
The lady that sit next to me at work had a nasty cold / cough that lasted several weeks.

The boys had a cold...one got it then the other got it. About the time I thought they were getting better the first one got a secondary infection that caused him to have bronchitis. They gave me their cold as well and took me a week or so to get over it.

I started feeling better then a cold front blew in and those always seem to jack up my sinus / allergy issues.

I'm ready for Spring to get here, get everybody healthy and get the boys' baseball season started.
