Nick Pratto lined a bases-loaded single up the middle with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning Sunday to give California a 2-1 victory over Japan in the Little League World Series.

Eric Anderson scored on Pratto's single to give California its seventh overall World Series title.

After concerns about whether they would be able to play at all because of fallout from Tropial Storm Irene, the Little League teams from Huntington Beach, Calif., and Hamamatsu City, Japan, finally got the opportunity to play for the World Series championship.

Cool to hear.

My boys have been playing baseball seven days a week pretty much most of this year, couple of team practices a week, games seasonally and they want me to take them to the cages even when the team isn't doing something. It's a strain on me at times (playing select ball can also be a strain on your wallet) but I know playing little league is something positive for them to be involved in and they are not the type of kids to sit on the couch all day playing X-box / watching TV.

We watched a little of the Mexico Vs Japan game the other day. My son had a practice last night, we took the Mustang up there, figured it was only fair since the name of the team is the 'Stangs........ Seems the weather is finally breaking a little bit around here, it wasnt 200 degrees outside.

Lucky you...it was running about 107 - 108 here on both Saturday and Sunday.

I am going to take the Stang up to one of the boys' practices as soon as it cools off a little. Their coach has a newer convertible Mustang and a '67 (I think) Cougar convertible he is wanting to restore.
