Contest for puppies (or dogs) who like to chew on things

OK,
Here's a Christmas contest for those who have a puppy that likes to chew on everything in sight. Submit a pic with name and age of your puppy (ok, it doesn't have to be a puppy by definition) along with a couple situations which you doggy has chewed on something it wasn't suppose to. Your name will be put into a hat or clean oil pan which on December 12th my daughter will randomly pic out the winner.

The prize will be one of the following doggy frog toys named Shaggy of course. It squeaks real good. If I have more toys hidden somewhere, we might pull two names depending who's been naughty this year, or 3 names, or 4 names.

Sorry but for those who have already received one of these lovely gifts, you are not eligible, unless you have a new puppy and lots of bribe money.

As we are doing in the WE program, your name will be added to the bottom of this post.

Too bad Shelby is dead. It would be hard to beat phone lines, cable lines, live air conditioner power wire, 2x2 wooden gate slats, plywood, pressure treated 2x4, plastic kiddie pool, birds, other dogs, etc. However, if Sally comes up with another half eaten opossum or rabbit I'll be sure to post pics.

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

My 8month old puppy is only 87lbs and really hasn't eaten much other than a rock. Had to take him to the vet yesterday because my wife thought he had eaten a batttery. He hadn't. But the x-ray did show a very big rock in there....and of course my wallet is lighter by $180. :bomb

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

How about a 23 pound cat that thinks he's a dog and chews on everything? Does that qualify?

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

I'd enter our almost 11 month old pup, but since he's not really "mine", I'll refrain. He will destroy any toy whether it be a giant bone or a soft duck, but I will not tolerate any destruction of property.

I finally gave him one of my R comps that blew out....he hasn't shredded that yet!

Give your cat some tinsel off the Christmas tree.

I would try that, but he might crap glitter everywhere.

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

My son's chocolate lab, Chip, once ate a fairly new and expensive video camera belonging to my son's father in law. Alas no pix and no videos either. :shrug

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

I have multiple dogs, but the only one who has ever chewed anything he wasn't suppose to is our Lab.

Well he's not really a little puppy, but when we got him he had just turned 1 yr old which for a Lab, is still young and puppy-like.
This is Cuba. Its pronounced like scuba diving but drop the 'S'... He's a Lab and he loves swimming. If you know the comedian Ralphie May, you'll get the joke. lol

This was taken within the first few weeks we had him. We didn't know he was scared of thunder and sure enough one afternoon we went out and major thunder storm. He said the linoleum looked at him funny and had to be shredded.

The next storm we had, was in the middle of the night and since I still wasn't 100% happy with his behavior with my larger male Standard Poodle, I kept Cuba in the kitchen. Well hubby left his wallet and his baseball cap on the table... next morning there was nothing left of the hat but a few threads and the rim, and the wallet was eaten and everything in it, except the atm card and drivers license which had teeth marks in them making the atm card useless to use anywhere.

Since we knew he had issues with thunder and took it out by chewing things, I gave him a couple cheap toys ... which got shredded of course.

We've had Cuba for a year and a half now. He's over this thunder fears and doesn't chew things up anymore. :thu

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

PUPPIES! I love puppies! Gotta post on this one.
My ORCA is almost two years old, 110+ Alaskan Malamute. The only thing he still eats regularly if given the chance is my footy socks.
Mike complains about sock turds in the back yard.
Last week Mike was reading DRIVEN, the autobiography of Larry Miller (deceased owner of Miller Motorsports Park and Utah Jazz). The book disappeared. Found it shredded in the back yard. I don't know why ORCA didn't like Larry???
But when my pup was little he went through:
3 cells phones,
two pair bifocal glasses,
one pair prescription sunglasses,
he ate the arm rest in the back of our '65 convertible, (BAAAD, BAAAAAAD DOG!)
trashed several doggy beds, blankets, pillows.
anything edible left on the kitchen counter is his - loaves of bread, cereal boxes, ...
Stuffed animals quickly are gutted.

Re: Contest for puppies who like to chew on things

OMG, I'd better get more toys. It's going to be too tough to not pick all of these contestants as winners.

Craig,
I don't need a toy. ORCA would just gut it in seconds.
I just like to share my ORCA pics and stories almost as much as Mustang stuff.

Too bad we had to put Sandy down this year. The first year we had her she took all the Christmas presents outside and opened them. She found my Mom's present and chewed the crap out of it, then the sprinklers came on and made a big wet mess.

Max, never really chewed on anything other than the first car sh got hit by. Lost three front teeth.

Vincent...

is mixed breed and an obsessive compulsive chewer. We don't let him have chew toys any more because he can't stop chewing until they are gone. He doesn't eat, doesn't sleep, just chews til there is nothing left. He's learned to respect things in the house, but anything left in the yard is destroyed in seconds! He doesn't wear a collar anymore because, you guessed it, he chews them off. The last one we got was money back guaranteed to be unbreakable. We got our money back the next day.

Hell I can't compete with these munchers! All my little Jack Russell ever eats is window blinds. And boy does she shred em.

the weimeraner is great. He's got Marty Feldman eyes!

Our female German Shephard, Porsche, had her years of chewing. She notched the corner of our ethan allen dining table (cherry wood), and one day when we went to church, we returned to see that Porsche had totally destroyed one of those 3 foot by 3 foot dog pillows in our backyard. It looked like it snowed!

Our other dog, Staark (male German Shephard) doesn't chew but scratches at things when he's pissed. High winds bother him and lightning. Once, we returned from somewhere during a rain storm and had left the dogs inside the house. Upon our return, Staark had scratched a 12" x 8" hole in the carpet in front of our bedroom door. He's also scratched on the stucco in the back yard to the point that the color is gone in a couple of places!

I've got a pic of the snow in our backyard and will have to dig it up. I'll post it when I locate it.

Well here's a new one.
ORCA snatched a box of 12 candy canes off the kitchen counter. I didn't realize they were gone until I saw the ripped up empty box in the back yard.
Mike says at least when cleaning the dog's deposits in the back yard they will be "fresh minty scented." LOL!
