Cool Old Movie

I think I saw Midlife..... :amaz

Yeah, and I saw the back end of you, Pete...at first it looked like a horse's rear!

Very cool,Thanks for sharing!
Sure seemed like a lot of J-walking going on back then. Wonder how many people got run over in a days time? :lol

I like the car that cuts so close in front of the street car near the end of the movie.

How about the two young scallywags hitching a ride on the back of the car at 4:56!

A few kids seemed to get a kick out of running in front of the cable car. Daredevils!

What I read about the movie is that a number of cars were brought in to make the traffic look busier.

Yep - San Fran Market Street.

I tried to correlate Google earth street view with any of the buildings in the old movie. The closest I could get was the power and gas building MAY be at about 1:45 in the You Tube video, right side of the screen. Or it may not. Hard to tell, but every thing else is gone - except for the clock tower at the waterfront. I guess we really are the first generation to be able to look at a video like that and know that none of those buildings, or those people, is around today.

Cool video, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the great vid. If I'm not mistaken I belive I watched part of this before and Thomas Edison was the cameraman. Gary

If I remember my San Francisco earthquake history correctly, Market St. is where they tried to use dynamite(!) to create a firebrake in an effort to stop the post-quake fire--unsucessfully as it worked out, and a good bit of the rest of the city burned.

Loved it.

I did notice one guy driving a car back and forth across in front of the streetcar filming.
