One is $50 and the other $25. I guess because the $50 one has a few mod options and not just a plain stock 66? :shrug

Of course no mustang of any year has the hood I have and I'd never be able to have a full replica of Gertrude. Bummer.

Uh...it's a model. You can build it anyway you want. Pick up another (think Chevy) that has a cowl hood and put on your coupe. Pretty simple to do, Kat.

Mark prefers models of PT Cruisers from what I hear.... :Mark

The boys and I started a model of a '66 fastback a while back. Been sort of busy and we are waiting for a cold winter day when we need something to do to finish it.

Kat I've had the kit in the lower photo for a number of years. It's nice, but I'm a detail freak! Both of the kits you listed are WAY over priced. The lower one is readily available and can usually be found under $10. The box art just may be a little different, but it'll still be the same AMT brand kit. They re-box them with different art. Many model collectors drive the prices up based on the box art. Just tryin' to save you a few bucks to invest in Gert!

Ponyman66, you da man! Now she can send some of that extra spending money my way.

Wait. Your white elephant gift has not been opened yet!

(I also have the top pic model)

You might want to check Micheal's crafting stores - they may still have them!

I figure if I can't work on my '66, I could atleast work on its mini-me!

Well, it's a good thing you got a wiring harness from midlife. It would be difficult to wire up the PO's mess under the dash of the mini-gertrude...

you could just make up a cowl hood using :gs

Thanks guys! :thu

I'll have to do a LOT of cutting and modding of models to get a 66 coupe to look exactly like Gert when she's finished. Kind of like what Craig had to do to make a model of his e-coupe. Which, by the way, how's that coming along? Did you ever finish it?

no, not yet. I'm still trying to find the right wheels for the rear.

Kat,

I think I saw the red one at Hobby Lobby in College Station a few weeks ago.

My son put that red one together this past summer and I did the same one about 25 years ago to match my 66 Mustang that I was driving at the time in high school.

I have been looking for a 68 Coupe model for awhile. The only ones I have found are California Specials.
