Cowl hood

Nice. I want a cowl hood for my 65 but the only option without fabricating one is fiberglass. Did you just take out the center secion of another hood and fabricate uprights?

I thought about making my own but i didnt know they made the cowl scoop as a component that I could attach to my hood. I was thinking that I would have to fabricate my own from scratch and thought that it would be more trouble than it is worth. I am now rethinking the fiberglass hood. Thanks for the link.

heres the scoop i used. Im sure if you looked through my build thread, you seen the modification required to get a basicly GM scoop to line up with the stock hood. Its great, but a little flimsy. I still need to make a screen to stiffen up the back a bit.

yeah I looked through your thread. I would most likely close off the back of the scoop since it is the look I am looking for not the practicality. How did you finish off the under side? I saw you cut out a round hole for the air cleaner, I was thinking of removing all the material under the cowl. I will have to buy the scoop and see where I stand.

Removing more then i did, you will have some serious work with the understructure. The hole i made was plenty huge. I did my best to cut it clean, but i plan on using some black door edge guard material to finish off the cut. Heres a pic so you can see just how big the opening is.
