Craftsman Club Sale

I received the flyer yesterday, pretty decent prices on lots of tools Nov 1-28. You can sign up for free and save, I think I'll get some extra tools for the track so I don't have to keep moving them from the garage to the trailer and then back!

Might have to have a look but I can't think of anything I need desperately at the moment.

One cool thing is that we have a five year service award thing at work that they had stopped doing for a while. Even though I am at almost seven years they decided to reinstate the program and go ahead and give those of us who got left out when we hit five years the award even though it's late. They had a 230 piece tool set as one of the options so I picked that....I already have most of the stuff in the set but I figured it would be a good set of basic tools to leave in the trunk for road side "issues".....I figured I'd get more use out of that then a watch.

I used to work at Sears. The Craftsman Club isn't really much of a deal if you pay attention to the store sales. One week they'll run a "20% off everything in the store" sale, the next they'll switch to the Craftsman Club sale which gets you the same discount.

The really good sales are during and right after the holiday season. You can get some stuff up to 40% off if you look.

All that said, I try not to shop at Sears anymore. They're almost as bad as Wal-Mart.

Most stores are like that...I worked at Foley's my last year and a half in college and if I learned nothing else I learned to never ever pay full price.

They would roll out something new and it would be at full price for about two weeks...after that the longer you waited the better discount you got. Only problem was if you waited too long then it would only be odd sizes left.

It's a 2 hr round trip drive for me to get to a Sears. Online sales are my friend!

I used to work at sears too. They have gone downhill since merging with Kmart!

Clubs can be found cheaper than at Sears at such places as Home Depot, Sporting Goods stores, and stores that cater to thugs.

I just heard this morning that Sears is having their "Black Friday" sale tomorrow. Anticipating a weak sales season so it may be worth checking out.

If you know what you're looking for, ebay is a great place to buy second-hand tools. Most everything I've bought, probably averaged around 30% of the original selling price. Most tools have a lifetime guarantee from the manufacturer, so you could always replace if something breaks.

I usually pick up any Craftsman tools I see at swap meets for that same reason. Cheaper than new and replacable if they break!
