Cragar wheels and back spacing

68 mustang coupe. I found a guy selling a brand new set of cragar 61c series S/S Wheels. He says the fronts are 17x8 with 3.5 back spacing and that the rears are 17x9 with 5.5 back spacing. With brand new fusion Z rated tires. Never heard of fusion tires before. Is it possible to make those work? I was thinking at worst I would need a 1 inch front spacer. Guy is asking 700 for front and rear rims and tires all brand new. Seems like a killer deal for all of that. He was asking 850 and he lowered it. What are your thoughts? work trying to work with those or should I Just hold out and find the perfect fit wheels?

17x8 with 3.5 backspacing would require you to mill 1 inch off the wheel mount flange to fit on the car. In other words...if you put a 1 inch spacer on the wheel it would make the backspacing 2.5 inch. Now if you have a 17x8 wheel with 5.5 inch backspacing and add a 1 inch spacing, they have a better chance of fitting since it would make the BS equivalent to 4.5

So I had that backwards in my head lol. I'm sure if you milled the back of the wheel that compromises the integrity/rigidity of the wheel. So basically the fronts are unusable. Do the backs sound about right? I was thinking I could possible get the wheels for the backs. Take off the front tires and sell the front rims and then get the correct spacing front rims and have a set of wheels and tires for around 8-900.

I personally would pass. People with wheels usually try to sell them in 4. You may end up with a lot more into these than you want by the time you get yourself 4 usable wheels and tires.
