Crap....

That was just up the road from me. Didn't hear anything, but the local news broke into the regular programing to report it. Glad he made it out alright.

Not to far from you Dave, you might have to run down there. I used to live pretty close to the Ocala national forest. Glad they both made it out.

The pilot ejected and parachuted safely to earth
As opposed to what?

Marion County sheriff's Capt. Fred Vyse said military personnel from the U.S. Navy's Pinecastle Bombing Range in the Ocala National Forest scrambled to State Road 19 to help look for the pilot.

How in the world can a bombing range be within a National Forest????

Av-8s (A's moreso, B's less) have had many problems with them over the years, and even so, it is sad to hear about it....

That is the only place to put one around here without everyone Bitching about the noise. Kinda' cool to be sitting on the dock fishing and watching the jets doing their aerial maneuvers and dropping live bombs. The sights and sounds are awesome.

The above linked news story has been updated since it was originally posted.

Within the initial version that I posted was the statement: "The pilot ejected and landed safely on Earth."

Before I start let me tell you that I'm up here in North Carolina. Per capita, we're probably somewhere around the average mark on a national intelligence scale.

All of us up here were greatly relieved to learn that the pilot landed safely on our planet..... and I'd like to speak for all North Carolinians' when I thank the journalists and editors from the Florida news desk for confirming this for us as whenever one of our planes goes down the first question we have is "Which planet did the pilot land on?"

Hmmmm, I'll have to call my parents, they manage Juniper Springs State Park in the Ocala Forest!
