Crest Ford in Detroit (Center Line)

Ramrod extraordinaire

I'm in the process of buying a used f250 from this dealer and I got what I believe is a good deal. Waiting for loan docs to arrive. During my due diligence tonight I discovered numerous negative feedbacks on a couple of websites and an F rating with the local BBB for three unresolved complaints in the past year. Their positive customer feedback is around 75-80% and they've worked with me over the phone. Opinions? I don't have to have this truck but I would like to close the deal. Having it shipped so I won't see it in person until I own it. Should I bag the deal? I've only given a $250 deposit so I won't be out a lot if they don't return it if I decide to pull the plug.

Crap. You're a day late on this one. I'm leaving Detroit early in the morning. Could have swung by and taken a look for you had i know yesterday. All I can tell you is that complaints could be driven by unreasonable customers so bear in mind it might reflect negatively unfairly to the dealer. A car dealer typically makes hundreds of deals a month so by ratio it doesn't seem so bad. Is kind of surprising they wouldn't try to resolve to avoid the BBB rating hit but you never know the details.

Other than purchase what business will you have with this dealer? Do you trust a Ford product? That's the question.

Have you looked into having a third party inspect the vehicle for you. I basically trust no one, especially if I don't know them.

I'm going to have the truck inspected when (if) it arrives so I will know if I am going to keep it. I asked the dealer for the inspection checklist they perform and a list of any recalls/TSB's. Also verify all the loose items that are present before shipping (spare, jack, floor mats). Also asked for a walk around inspection prior to shipping to verify any damage if any before the shipper gets it. And I consulted the used car laws in Michigan. If the trucks condition/operability is misrepresented I can return it and demand a refund. I may be out the shipping costs both ways unless I hire an attorney.
