DILLIGARA?
Donator
A week+ ago this elderly lady who works next door to me approached me saying that she is inheriting her son's BMW 5 series and was wondering if I might know anyone who would like to buy her '89 325i? I asked how much for my son has been kinda looking around. She said "I was think $600-$700. It only has 140k miles on it all new interior. My jaw dropped and immediately told her my son would be very interested. I call him tonight. Now mind you this car has a salvage title for she has had two previous situations where someone has ran into the back end of the car. But it look fantastic and for the price, who gives a rats ass if it's salvage or not. It can be a San Francisco city beater. Anyway the son get's all excited about the great news.

Next day I bring my camera to take some pics and suddenly she's not there. Finally that afternoon I see the car outside and so I go into their business to see her. She has this serious look on her face, approaches me and says "Well, sorry but last night I had to go see my car repair guy about my sons car and he convinced me to not sell my car for less than $2k.

:wtf :guns :rant :soapboxrant

I hold her how dissapointed I was to hear this and my son will be very sad and would she consider something around $1k. "Nope, I've been told to stay firm at $2k.

I walked away mentally stabbing a doll of her with pins.

We don't talk for a week plus and today I still see the car with no for sale sign on it so I approach her asking if she's had any bites on the car. She looks at me and says "guess what? On my way home a couple days ago I turn at this corner down there, come to a stoplight and some old man in a big truck rams into the back of me. I find out he has no insurance and offers to simply buy the car from me immediately so I won't rat on him. He asks how much and I tell him $2k. He gets me a cashier's check for the total amount. I'm giving him the car probably tonight.

Even though she get's the car crunched, she still gets her freakin $2k

And the world continues on.....when the price is to good, you must have the cash in hand.....then worry if someone likes it.

Bought my daughter a small truck like that once. Seller gave me a price of 1/2 of the normal selling price. I bought it.....and then worried if she wanted it. Figured I could always resell it.

.....or is this payback for getting that fastback so cheap......

20 years ago I shook hands with a guy agreeing to his price on his house he had for sale by owner, 2 hours later he called me and said he talked to a friend of a friend who sells real estate and says he priced the house too low--he now wanted 20,000. more---I told him to shove his house, I sold a house once and the buyers apraiser said I was probably light on the price--I told him no I wasn't, I knew what I had in it and I shook hands with the buyer on my price. It used to be someones word was worth something---not any more!!!

I feel your pain Craig. Several months ago I was looking for a car for Micheal. I'd seen a 3 series advertised on Craigslist (hehehe). The car looked great and the major problem listed was a sagging headliner (a very common problem). The price was reasonable and the car had been listed for several months! Of course, when I'M finally looking things changed. I shot them an email......gone! :rant

Ended up finding him an Explorer instead.

Maybe you will feel better if you stroke your bearded iphone cover.....

Yeah, and what the real estate guy didn't say, is if the guy sold from an agent at that price, the agent would have walked away with the extra $20k and the seller would have had the same amount in his pocket anyhow...

Hi Craig, she but the Bi-ch in BMW.

If I were you, Id' drive to her house and doing a 'lawn job' or toss a few rolls of TP into her trees.
