I let my brother mow the pasture where we had land mulching done last year. I told hime to walk the area first, because there could be logs and stuff needing to cleaned up. We he went too fast and fit a stump. Sheared the shaft right off the mower. Hope they sell a replacement shaft, otherwise it is a $3K piece of junk. Guess you need to learn sometime. He did say: I broke it so I'll fix it.20200614_074748.jpg20200614_074739.jpg

If Deere doesn't sell a replacement part (which I'm sure they do) take the remnants to a machine shop and they can certainly make one. Likely for less.

The shaft looks like it is cast iron, I would of thought Steel, I guess they wanted this to be a shear point.

It definitely looks like it was designed to break there. The larger mowers all have folding blades around here ive seen. Might be worth looking into if you have the potential to hit stuff often.
