Always on vacation!
Well, we picked up a 2010 Camaro from the rental place today. It is an auto with a V6. Silver in color with the black cloth interior.
Well here is my review. I have driven the 2009 Mustang and on the 23rd will have a 2010 to compare as well.
First of all I do like the body style. I got inside and noticed the interior is a bit bling bling for my taste. The black cloth is a bit hard, the power seats are nice, even the backs are power recline. The seats have side bolsters on the bottom that cut into my thighs.
I felt like I was riding in a Rat Rod with a chop top. I am 6' and sat high and couldn't get the seat low enough to get my line of sight in the middle of the windshield. The A and C pillars are huge and provide large blind spots.
It took some time to figure out the radio and the heater AC controls, but once I figured them out, they were easy to use and nice. The gauges light up nicely.
The steering wheel tilts and telescopes, nice touch.
OK, with the V6 it sounds like a sewing machine, but it is very fast. I went from 0-80 in what seemed like a few seconds and when I was on the highway I went from 80-107 in about 8 seconds. This thing wouldn't run slower than 85 no matter what I did. I had to brake to slow down. I am impressed with the V6 in this car! As compared to the V6 in the 2007 and 2009 Mustangs I rented, the acceleration isn't quite as good as the Mustang from a stop, but on the roll, it is better. I do like the 6 speed auto with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
I have to say the Mustang is more stable in the rear. The Camaro was very squirrelly in wet weather.
The trunk is easier to use than the Mustang, the back seat is the same after thought, visability sucks in the Camero!
Overall I give it an 8 out of 10. I give the Mustang 9 out of 10.
