Dash cam foils scammer

Seen this scam around here. Car with Canadian plates just happens to slip into reverse and cracks into the car behind them. All of a sudden the cops get there and the guy from Canada is rolling on the ground like he's been shot. Too bad the car you claimed hit you was being driven by the police traffic investigator's wife. Friggin scam artists.

Should have called the cops first and recorded more conversation to turn in as evidence later to take him to the cleaners with and send him to jail for fraud.

I got rearended at a stop light a few years ago and the kid that hit me made up some crap story about me swerving into his lane and his insurance company bought it. Told me they were only going to pay half. I took it to my insurance company with the police report that cited him for following to close and not paying attention or something. They went after the other company and got 100 % covered. Everyone wants to claim no responsibility.

Thought that as well.

I investigated a rear end collision a month or so back. This young girl pulled out of the college parking lot onto a busy six lane thoroughfare at rush hour. She could only get into the lane closest to the exit due to the heavy traffic. She then saw an opening next to her, gunned it and tried to whip over. Unfortunately she didn't have enough room and clipped the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of her. When I got there she claimed the guy had "backed into her". She then added that when she saw the guy's reverse lights come on, she tried to swerve to avoid him. After looking at the impact locations on both vehicles and where they had been it was clear to she what actually happened. What further hurt her story was the "swerving to avoid him" part. She had two options, right onto a wide grass shoulder or left into the traffic. She was going to the left! She stuck to her story until the court date rolled around. I tried to give her a chance the night of the accident but she wanted to stick to her story. On the court date when she realized her story was shot to crap she decided to plead guilty. :thu

If only people would just own up to their mistakes. Usually just makes it worse when you lie.
I never make a mistake, and I would never lie about that. Ask Dodgestang...

If I ever forget, someone PLEASE remind me not to stand too close to Randy (Midlife). I don't want to be accidentally struck by that same big lightning bolt that's headed his way! LOL

I almost had this happen a few weeks ago in the Mustang. Stopped at a light and the backup lights on the SUV in front of me went on (hmmm...this isn't good). Sure enough, he started moving backward. I leaned on the horn for several seconds and he finally stopped moving (must have realized there were several potential witnesses at that point).

My guess is they count on people not paying attention (talking/texting on cellphones, eating, etc.).
