Day off????

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
Got a call last night that there was not enough work for all of us, so the two of us in the North are off today.

I need a stress day, but on my terms...

I just hate slow weeks. I don't get construction here. There is good weather year round and they slow down in winter....I can see it in Cedar where it snows, but St. George?

Way to add stress!

I'm going to finish my wall unit/entertainment center, fix the wall from the ladder falling Saturday and just relax!

No parts or money for the cars right now....:(

Well , I hope this gives you a positive perspective :

I heard on TV that the recession is at its end in the States and Asia begin 2013 and Europe will follow but that will be in the begin of second quarter of 2013 .

Housemarket/construction in the states is going up they have said.

Fingers crossed.

You might want to change that TV channel. Things over here are not going to get any better for quite a while.

I don't understand what you mean about positive perspective, Bruno.

I don't see real estate in our area doing much. In the Southern area where most of my work is, there seems to be a little bit going on.

As far as a perspective of what is going on with our economy, there are many things to consider. Now that the elections are over, people can get to the business of their lives and maybe something will start to happen

As for real estate, I have lost over $500k in values, so I think that gives me a pretty good perspective of what happened and what is happening. the values in our area are still falling. The only reason I am working is to pay the house off and in the mean time if it means selling all my toys, then so be it!

When and if we have a second dip in the recession which I believe is near and going to be worse that the first, I am planning on being financially stable. This last one sucked between health issues that caused a year off work and bad economy causing prices to go up and wages to stay the same or go down and real estate going down, we got hit pretty hard.

If my wife wasn't in love with the house we built, I would have already let the bank have it since it is worth less than I owe, and moved into town where my payment on a nice new house would be 1/4 of what I pay now, which would mean neither one of us would have to work.

Sorry for the rant, Bruno, it is not directed at you personally and I know there are people everywhere and even here on this forum that have had things much worse than I have, I just am in a pissed off mood and stressed out to no end right now! I just wish there was an easy answer and there isn't one, so as I always say to fix any problem,

when you are tired, Work!
when you are stressed, Work!
when you are happy, Work!
when you are sad, Work!
when you are angry, Work!
when you need money, Work!
when you have money, Work!

Believe me this will solve all your problems! I just don't have it in me to become one of those on the dole!

The bank I work for is closing 2 branches next month, followed by 4 more no later than April. That's just for this area. There's another 100+ scheduled to shut down across the footprint.

Well, got the wood milled and edge banded now to get to sanding away then stain and assembly!

So far so good.

Had a couple of my contractors call and need me today, but they will have to wait!

Hehehe, I am having a great day building stuff! Maybe I could get something started on my own. I'll post pics later....

I did get the entertainment center mostly done today. I have to install the lights, build the shelves and doors and the molding install it all and then it will be done!

The 85" long 19" deep and 20" tall upper box was a biotch! I had to get my SIL to help me! The space is 86" wide and the box is 85 1/2" wide so it was a bit tight.

I just hate framers and drywallers! These walls that were supposed to be square and straight, are far from that!!!!

Well the hardest part is done, the rest is just meticulous!

We are slow also. I have been working everyday, just not full days. Part of the reason is that we have no installation work right now so the installers are helping with service work. We do the camera systems for Kroger, Stater Bros., Fresh and Easy and Smart & Final. The guys are telling me that it is typical for this time of the year.

Wish we were a little slow right now. The bank plans all project work Oct-Feb. I'll be busting my ass till February, then it dies down just enough for my boss to complain about our low ticket count. Never mind the last few months of ridiculously high ticket numbers. I can make my monthly quota in two weeks this time of year.
