DC Control

Wanted to find out if this company is still shipping electric fan controls or if this is still the best controller. Most post are from 2010 and they say good things about the product and bad about the service, anybody have any info?

I just ordered a controller from him 2 weeks ago. Haven't gotten any replies to emails asking about ETA yet though, which as I read is typical for this guy. If it gets to the 3 week mark with no word I will call him. If still no communication I will let paypal deal with him.

EDIT: Just opened a claim with paypal to get a refund. No communication from him whatsoever.

EDIT 2: Paypal claim settled next day and full refund, so that means he reads his emails. What a strange guy. Went with a flex a lite variable speed controller and I'm sure it will perform essentially the same as his would have.

He is a one man shop and doesn't appear to ever want to expand to meet the demand of his products. I ordered one a few years ago and it took about 2 months to get the controller. He did respond to emails, so not sure why he isn't with you guys.

Its a quality product but not as "pretty" as the SPAL PWM controllers. However, those things were horrible a few years back and constantly failed, so I'm not sure if they are any better now. The SPAL ones were operating high amperage fans and SPAL didn't put an amperage limit for their product, which is why it likely failed a lot. They have since put a limit, something like 15A (which is pretty low for a fan).

I just installed this one:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-31163

I'm using it to power my dual 11 inch SPAL fans. It's performing great. It starts the fans at 60% power and if temperature climbs it will ramp up the speed of the fans accordingly. We got some pretty hot 95 degree days last week and temp gauge never went above mid point and I purposefully did a lot of stop and go slow traffic-filled driving around town.

I'm happy. Hard to beat going online and ordering a product and it being at your door the next day. Not many people want to wait 2 months for a product that is going to essentially perform the same.

Thats pretty similar to the DC Control box, except the DC allows you to choose if you want the fan to run 30sec after and the DC control also starts at a lower fan speed (25% IIRC). These aren't real deal breakers though. The Flexalite also has a 45 amp limit, similar to the DC Controls FK-55 kit of 55a. Pretty nice kit IMO

I'm using a Derale adjustable unit.. Summit sells them. .. so far it works great and I've been using for about a year.

They make them for one or two fans.

As an update, I just installed the fan controller from the Hollister Road company. I was very impressed with the quality and gage of the wire, relays, connectors and the coolant sensors. It's working pretty good for me so far! I never could get in touch with DC control
