Deb hit a Buck this am

She left for work (hour drive) and headed down the gravel road. About 3 miles down, she hits a big buck that's been chasing some tail. I get the phone call and tell her I'll be there in a few minutes, but she says that she can make it back to the house. It's still dark, so I flip on all the outside lights and open the garage. As she's coming down the drive I see that both headlights are shining bright and think :wtf

She pulls into the garage and I start looking over the Focus for all that will need repaired. I stand there in utter amazement as I find NO damage...none, zip, nada.....again :wtf

I can see where something had been on the hood (since the car is mud covered), but there are no dents, scratches or broken glass. The only thing I found was some hair wedged between the headlight bucket and the fender.

I've seen a large buck around the area she got slammed and if it was the same one, it's at least 300 lbs. I find it almost unbelievable that the hood was not crunched. She said she was looking at the head as it momentarily laid on the windshield. After she stopped, the deer slid off the hood, back to all 4's, wobbled a bit, then trotted off, jumped a fence and headed back out into a pasture.

I told her to go buy a Lotto ticket today!

Every once in a while, you hear of this.......could this be related to the PT......

Really, glad all is ok. I have seen these hits before and things must have been perfect.....

This is the first time I've heard or seen a deer/car connection that didn't result in damage. I hit a doe some years ago and it destroyed the hood, fender, front end and apron.

She was definitely lucky today.

..... maybe the deer jumped straight up in the air just before impact..... kind of like "jumping up" just before a crashing elevator hits the bottom would prevent injury to the elevators occupants.....

........that and I doubt she was doing 80 mph down a gravel road in the dark.

Knowing her and the way she drives, I'd bet it was 30mph or less, she had no idea!

Maybe the Focus just fit under the buck standing in the road. His belly is what made the marks on the roof.......

At least she owned up to what happened and didn't try to "pass the Buck' ...get it ? pass the ........ah nevermind. :doh

Deb pass something, maybe.... Mark - Never. :lol

Glad all is well mark, but that what you get for living in the country. :craz

That's true and we both know we are constantly rolling the dice, but it's worth it.

Congrats on no damage. Very lucky. I know an old man that hit a doe while driving down interstate one day. Didn't do too much damage to his car but the deer saliva all over his car was freaking hilarious. The funniest part of the whole thing was him pulling over after he hit it. It didn't kill the deer but busted it up enough to where it couldn't move. Well, ole George felt sorry for it because it was suffering and decided to pet the deer until the cops got there. He got a little pissed when the deer BIT HIM!!! I laughed till I cried on that one. Still don't know if I was laughing more at the deer saliva covering his windshield or his cut up hand. Freakin' hilarious.

Thanks, but I'll pass Rod! I already did that a few years ago.
