Desert Car Kings TV show

Anyone watch this show? They "restored" a 62 Galaxie to resell. Pulled out a 292 because in their words "it's a truck engine". So they swap in a 351M? Knowledgeable cars guys will ask :wtf repeatedly.
Oh well, at least it's new car stuff to watch on TV.

They are all hacks! The way they do business should be illegal.

I particularly enjoyed when they were showing the vintage ad type pictures of the Galaxy and half of them were Chevelles. The production staff obviously don't know sh!t about cars either. (check your DVR)

They did not remove any moldings when they painted it either.

Another crap car show that's all about the drama in the periphery and nothing about building a car.

Yes the show and those guys suck but....one good thing is that they are saving vintage iron and getting them back into circulation where a serious restorer can find it.

Good Point. At least it's not like Wrecks to Riches where some dumb ass pours 50 grand in a car and sells it to the same guy over and over.

It occurs to me I've never heard of anyone hiring a scrapyard crew for a classic restoration before. Maybe this is why.

I loved how they kept saying that 2bbl 351M put out 350HP! I would be amazed if that wheezing pathetic boat anchor put out 200HP. Any 390 would've been better and they would've made money on the car with the 390 as well! I'd be scared to see how rigged up the engine/trans mounts and exhaust were. :wtf

Untill I saw that 62 show I would have agreed with you on saving old iron. But after that hacking..... :wtf
Not helping the cause after that mess.

This has been my latest make over for my Son-inlaw just back from Iraq. He needs a daily driver and I need a way to get his Harley up to Washington. :bowdown

And my bottom line cost is way below 6500.00 :sarc

Deal is he has to clean up the interior and wet sand/buff the paint.
But everything works and has been rebuilt from the front to the back.
Even added a trailer hitch.... :roll

Didn't he say the Ranchero that 351 came out of was an el camino? I could of swore he said that. I did catch the pictures being wrong as well. That show is an all around mess. The cars look like crap and it is definitely more about the drama. I'm happy they're rescuing classic iron, but leave the restoration work to the people who will actually take the time to do it right. I couldn't believe they left the trim on to paint the red galaxie!

Did Pete do the rear suspension? Sharp looking Cougar

I assume you added some helper springs for the tow package?

That pic has the 620 springs in the front, Had to change them back to stock springs because of tire rubbing in the front,
And the stinkbug look just wasn't right.
Pic's with the trailer is after change and frontend alignment. It does have coilover shocks for towing but the new rear
springs made connecting them and the sway bar a pain in the backside. Hoping it settles some later.

She has all new brakes, suspension, steering and rebuilt eng and trans with me doing all the work but the trans.
Hardest thing to get right was the headlights to open and close properly, But they work great now. :yah

Car Warriors should be another good one...... 72 Hours to hack up a classic......

I couldn't agree more with you. I saw the commercial for it the other day and threw up a little in my mouth. Go sup up a rice burner or something in 72 hours instead of taking away and screwing up some real classics that deserve better.

Today they were f-ing up a 442. By their standards I could slap a maaco paint job on ED and got $50k.

These guys are in the same league with Nick.

That's what I told Shari. She asked what I was watching and I said " hacks " working on cars. She asked what a hack was and I said it was someone who works on a care but doesn't car about the quality of the work, they are in it for the short term goal.

On the T-Bird they did, the paint job got messed up and no one noticed till the guy's Dad said something about it.

I do have to give them credit that they are saving cars that might end up squished.
